Meet the Team Behind PEARS

Ever wonder who’s behind the PEARS platform you use every day? The friendly voice in your inbox? The team turning your feedback into new features? At Canopy, we believe the best tools are built and supported by real people who care deeply about their work. That’s why we’re excited to introduce a new blog series called “Voices from the Grove.”
This series is our way of opening the doors a little wider and inviting you to get to know the people behind PEARS. The people who brainstorm features, answer help tickets, build relationships with new partners, run trainings, write code, test tools, ask thoughtful questions, and celebrate your wins right alongside you.
You’ll hear stories from across our team; some shared in their own words, and others produced from casual interviews conducted with individual team members. Either way, you’ll get a chance to meet the people who keep Canopy going and growing. We hope it helps you feel more connected to the work we’re doing—and to the people doing it.
But first, we want to give you a behind-the-scenes look at how our team is structured.
Four Divisions, One Mission

Canopy is organized into four main divisions: Product, Engineering, Client Development, and Client Success. Each one plays a unique role, but all four work together to serve a shared mission: supporting public service organizations in tracking their efforts, telling their stories, and demonstrating their impact.

Product
The Product team is the bridge between user needs, business goals, and technical implementation. They take in feedback from across the field and within our own teams and turn it into thoughtful plans that guide what we build next. Whether it’s prioritizing new features, improving user experience, or aligning PEARS with the broader needs of public service work, Product helps keep us focused and moving forward.
Engineering
Our Engineering team builds and maintains the PEARS platform. They’re the folks writing code, fixing bugs, improving performance, and bringing new features to life. They’re creative problem-solvers with a deep commitment to usability, security, and accessibility. And while they may not always be front-facing, their work is at the core of everything we do.
Client Development
This team is often the first point of contact for future partners. They focus on building relationships, learning about the challenges and goals of potential clients, and helping them see how PEARS can support their work. They’re great listeners, trusted guides, and thoughtful communicators.
Client Success
Once a partner comes on board, our Client Success team steps in to support them long-term. This group does everything from onboarding and training to helping folks navigate evaluation and reporting requirements. If you’ve ever emailed support or joined a training, you’ve met someone from this team. They’re kind, knowledgeable, and incredibly committed to helping people succeed.
Leadership and Support
In addition to these four divisions, we have a President who leads Canopy’s vision and strategy, and an Executive Assistant who keeps everything running smoothly behind the scenes. These two roles provide vital support across the organization and help ensure we’re staying aligned with our mission, our values, and each other.
Student Program
We’re also lucky to have talented students join us each year, bringing fresh ideas and energy to Canopy. They work alongside our teams on real projects—everything from coding and testing to creating social media content and support documentation. It’s a win-win: students gain valuable experience in a mission-driven environment, and we benefit from their curiosity and creativity.
Why “Voices from the Grove”?
Our company name, Canopy, is inspired by nature. In a forest canopy, different parts of the ecosystem work together in harmony, supporting one another and the life below. That’s how we see our work, too: as part of a larger system of people and organizations working for the public good.
So, in that spirit, “Voices from the Grove” is our way of sharing the stories of the individuals that make up our collective canopy. You’ll hear about what drives them, what they love about their roles, and even a few fun facts along the way.
What’s Next?
In the coming weeks and months, we’ll start publishing these stories, some short, some long, all from the heart. We hope they help you feel more connected to us and to the mission we share. And who knows, you might even see someone you’ve worked with featured!
